Skills and experience to demonstrate

Prioritize evidence of strong Excel skills, especially basic formulas, pivot tables, and regular reporting work. You should also highlight experience with databases, data verification, and keeping information accurate across multiple systems.

Useful strengths to mention include attention to detail, time management, organizational habits, and any exposure to data cleansing, validation tools, or reporting. If you have worked in a regulated or compliance-focused setting, that can be positioned as optional supporting experience.

Preparing your application

Tailor your CV toward accuracy, speed, and consistency rather than general admin duties alone. Use examples that show the volume of data you handled, how you reduced errors, or how you improved an internal process.

In your cover letter or interview answers, describe how you check work carefully, protect sensitive information, and keep records organized. Be ready to explain your Excel comfort level with concrete examples.

Questions for the recruiter

You may want to ask which databases and Excel workflows the team uses most often, how data quality is measured, and what kinds of reports or validation checks are part of the role.

It can also be helpful to ask how the team handles discrepancies, whether there are opportunities to improve existing processes, and what a typical first month looks like.
