What this role involves

This role is focused on building user-facing web features with React and TypeScript, then refining them with responsive HTML/CSS so they work well across browsers and devices. You would also help keep front-end code maintainable by following coding standards, contributing to a shared component library, and supporting debugging, code review, and performance improvements.

Collaboration is a central part of the work: expect to work closely with design, product, UX, and back-end teammates to turn mockups and requirements into usable features delivered on schedule.

Skills and experience to demonstrate

To present yourself well, emphasize hands-on experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and React, plus any examples of responsive design or cross-browser work. It also helps to show familiarity with Git and basic knowledge of bundlers such as Webpack.

Optional strengths you can mention if you have them include state management tools such as Redux or Zustand, front-end testing with Jest or React Testing Library, accessibility work aligned to WCAG, and exposure to CI/CD pipelines.

Preparing your application

Tailor your resume to show specific front-end projects, internships, or coursework where you built UI components, converted designs into working interfaces, or improved performance. If possible, include brief notes on your role in debugging, code reviews, reusable components, or build/tooling work.

For your portfolio or application examples, choose one or two projects that demonstrate clean structure, responsive layouts, and practical React development. Be ready to explain how you collaborated with others, made trade-offs, and kept code modular and maintainable.

Questions for the recruiter

You may want to ask how the front-end team organizes design handoff, code review, and collaboration with back-end engineers. It can also help to ask which parts of the stack and build pipeline you would use most, and how the team thinks about testing, accessibility, and component library ownership.

If useful, you could also ask what a successful first few months look like for someone early in their front-end career and how learning and mentorship are supported.
